Mairlyn Lightbourn-Oshodi is a true humanitarian, an accomplished educator, and an esteemed author. With a wealth of experience in social work, law enforcement, counseling, and education, she brings a seasoned perspective to her endeavors.
Mairlyn’s educational journey began at The Union Institute in Miami, Florida, where she earned her Bachelor of Social Work. Building on this foundation, she went on to achieve a master’s degree in social work from Florida International University in 1999. Later, she pursued advanced studies, attaining a Master of Science degree in Exceptional Student Education with a focus on social work from St. Thomas University, where she graduated in 2012.Top of Form
Mairlyn founded The Institute of Wholistic Empowerment, (IWE) Inc, 501c3. in Miami, Florida. She serves as president and CEO. IWE is committed to using evidence-based techniques to develop, re-program, and enhance each client’s whole being. In tandem with IWE, Mairlyn also founded Nathalie Training and Resources, LLC, where she serves as President. This LLC mirrors the services provided by IWE, extending their impact even further.
Mairlyn’s professional credentials include certification as a Certified Criminal Justice Specialist by the National Association of Forensic Counselors, along with certification by the Academy of Certified Social Workers. She is a past board member for the Civilian Investigative Panel in the City of Miami where she has contributed her expertise. Her company is certified with the Florida Department of Vocational Rehabilitation in Miami, Florida, and is a certified provider with the Miami Dade County Public Schools, the largest school in the country. She lives in Miami, Florida, and is currently retired from Miami Dade County Public School Education. She has numerous awards and special training relating to her field.
